On 13 July in Brussels, the Foreign Affairs Council discussed relations between the EU and Latin America and the Caribbean, in particular how the EU could support the region, the EU-Turkey relations and current affairs, including situations in Libya, Hong Kong, Venezuela, and the Middle East peace process.
On 3 July, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania handed over a verbal note to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Vilnius in response to information that had appeared in the public domain regarding serious environmental violations on the D-6 offshore platform on the continental shelf of the Baltic Sea.
On June 18 a representative of the Embassy of the Russian Federation was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania to express profound concern about the recent legislative initiative of State Duma deputy A. Zhuravlev to revoke USSR Supreme Council Resolution of 24 December 1989 condemning of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact and its secret protocols, which divided Eastern Europe into German and Soviet spheres of influences and paved the way to invading Poland in 1939 and led to the Soviet occupation of the Baltic states in 1940.
On 9 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius had a telephone conversation with his Georgian counterpart David Zalkaliani. The Foreign Ministers discussed preparations for video conferences of the Eastern Partnership Foreign Affairs Ministers and leaders in June, the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, and other issues.
On 3 June, the Government approved the proposal by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to resume scheduled flights to Paris, Copenhagen, Billund, Nice, and Turku.
On 12 May, the first Ambassador of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Bahrain Edminas Bagdonas presented his letters of credence to Bahrain’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani.
On 3 April, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius took part in the second video conference of the European Union's Foreign Affairs Ministers to discuss international aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a particular focus on consular coordination and repatriation, strengthening international cooperation and assistance.
The Foreign Ministers of Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia and the State Secretary of Norway discussed over the video conference today the response to the situation caused by the spread of COVID-19 corona virus.
On 11 March Linas Linkevičius, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a meeting with Philip Thomas Reeker, the United States of America Assistant Secretary of State, where they discussed relevant issues of transatlantic cooperation and regional security including partner efforts in countering disinformation and attempts to rewrite history.
On 10 March, on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the Restoration of the Independence of Lithuania, Vilnius held the Bucharest Nine (B9) meeting of the foreign ministers of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary. Delegates from the United States of America and NATO attended the meeting as guests. Gitanas Nausėda, President of the Republic of Lithuania, greeted the participants in the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania has allocated additional EUR 10, 000 for humanitarian aid to Albania. The funds will be transferred to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
On 13 December, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania hosted an event of the charity campaign "Maltesers soup" for the sixth time already. All money raised will go to assist elderly people in Lithuania who are lonely.
On 9 December, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Neris Germanas met with the Cuban journalist, human rights defender, winner of the European Parliament's Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought Guillermo Fariñas, and Omar Lopez, Human Rights Director at the Cuban American National Foundation.
On 21 November, the career diplomat Dalius Čekuolis took office as the new Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. D. Čekuolis replaced the former Foreign Vice-Minister Darius Skusevičius, who has been appointed as the Ambassador of Lithuania to Canada.
